In Remembrance of Larry Weaver, the voice of FundRaiser Technical Support

It is with sadness we report the death on January 13, 2016 of Larry Weaver, long-time employee and friend at Fundraiser.

Many of you have have “known” Larry for years, as he helped all of our FundRaiser users in his roles as Technical Support expert, and in later years, the “star” of our Training videos and live classes. Larry was the first employee hired by founder Gene Weinbeck, and remained, through the ups and downs of the company and his own move from Missouri to Arizona, a staunch friend and supporter of FundRaiser’s mission.

In his role of Support Technician, Larry was an immediate hit. He learned the FundRaiser program quickly. From the users he talked with, he also learned about fundraising so he was able to help people connect what they wanted to do with the features in the software. He was very patient and calming, and his radio- and music-trained-voice made it pleasant to learn from him. As the company expanded, Larry became Lead Trainer and his warm voice is still the one that customers hear on our training videos.

Larry was a multi-talented man. When he lived in West Plains, Missouri, he and his wife Nanette started the Heart of the Ozarks Theater Company, which produced radio plays and stage productions. Larry also worked at both KSPQ and KWPM radio stations in West Plains.

He was a talented musician. His favorite instruments were guitars and brass, and he wrote and performed his own music. Larry loved the outdoors. When he lived in Missouri, he enjoyed many happy hours with his family on float trips in canoes and kayaks on the beautiful Ozark Riverways. After he and Nanette moved to Arizona, they appreciated the desert environment they found there. He loved motorcycles, and was proud of the ones he renovated and hand-built.

His family was very important to Larry-- members of his immediate family as well as the extended family that he traveled, sometimes by motorcycle, to visit in the Midwest. He became a father later in life, when he married Nanette Weaver in 1988, and embraced the raising of her two young children, Eowyn and Travis. For several years, he and Travis worked together in FundRaiser Technical Support. In his later years, being a grandfather gave him great joy.

Larry was 69, and had been retired for just a year when he died of cancer, less than a month after the death of his wife, Nanette. Larry will be remembered as a valuable member of the FundRaiser team, a wonderful friend, and a talented and creative person.

"I believe that helping people who make the world a better place helps to make the world a place where people can become better, and that makes coming to work more than worthwhile." ~Larry Weaver, in his role as lead trainer
